Piekāpjoties sabiedrības spiedienam, "McDonald's" 8. marta vakarā tomēr paziņoja, ka uz laiku slēgs visus savus 850 restorānus Krievijā. Ļaudis Krievijā steigšus metās nobaudīt vēl pēdējo "Big Mac" burgeru, kā arī par bargu naudu internetā piedāvāja iegādāties "McDonald's" produktus.

8. martā "McDonald's" paziņoja, ka turpinās maksāt algas saviem 62 000 darbinieku Krievijā. Ātrās ēdināšanas restorāns ir uz laiku slēdzis arī 100 restorānus Ukrainā un turpina maksāt algas darbiniekiem.
Ļaudis sociālajos tīklos dalījās ar fotogrāfijām no garajām rindām pie Krievijas galvaspilsētā esošajiem "McDonald's".
